Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 to land Wednesday with no fireworks
Google will finally unveil the
Nexus 9 and the
Nexus 6 devices on
Wednesday without the usual fanfare that usually accompanies a big tech launch, according to reports.
Forbes sources believe the
Nexus 6, made by
Motorola, and the
Nexus 9 tablet from
HTC, widely expected to be outed on October 15, will be revealed through a simple
Google blog post, rather than a big media event.
The report claims
Google had planned an official event, but was caught up in finalising the Android L operating system, so oped against the hoopla.
Forbes asserts the
Nexus 9, often codenamed Volantis and heavily tipped to be powered by the new
Tegra K-1 processor, will be up for pre-order on Friday October 17 with a release date of November 3.
According to the report, the
16GB version will be $399 (around £250),
while a 32GB version, complete with LTE connectivity will be $499 (around £313).
The tablet will, as speculation has suggested, rock an
8.9-inch display with a 2048 x 1440 resolution. It?ll have a
64-bit dual-core processor an 8-megapixel camera and a 3-megapixel front facing camera, Forbes information suggests.
The
HTC-made device is said to land with a brushed aluminium frame, the Boomsound front-facing speakers as featured on the company?s most recent smartphone releases and a magnetic stand case that can be bent into a multitude of shapes.
There?s no additional news on the
Nexus 6, codenamed
Shamu, but it would be relatively refreshing to see Google take the old school pre-iPhone press release route for releasing its 2014 phones, tablets and operating systems into the wild.
Earlier on Tuesday, retired leak artist @evleaks served up one more for the archives with a leaked render of the
Nexus 6. Will the real deal land tomorrow? Watch this space.
