Android 4.3 HTC One gets Bluetooth certification

A HTC One running Android 4.3 has just been spotted getting certified at the Bluetooth SIG, despite Google yet to make the OS update official.

The vanilla Android version of the successful HTC One smartphone has just received Bluetooth certification running the as yet unconfirmed Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

The device has the model number PN071 reflecting its Google Edition status, and will be available in the future from the Google Play store, like Google?s own range of Nexus devices.

It seems strange that the HTC One is going through Bluetooth certification again, but it could be going through the motions again because Android 4.3 is tipped to bring Bluetooth 4.0 LE support with it.

The HTC One Google Edition could be one of the first devices to run the Android 4.3 update, along with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition and the possible Nexus 7 Mark 2 or highly rumoured Nexus 5.

Designed to offer all the HTC One features and specs without the HTC Sense UX interface, the stock Android HTC One was officially confirmed by the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer post Google I/O.

Android 4.3 won?t be the complete overhaul many had expected for Google?s next OS. The Jelly Bean update will bring some new features, but the strongly rumoured Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie should be the all new OS expected later this year.

HTC One Features

The HTC One Google Edition will retain the same specs as the original HTC One, which means consumers will have the benefit of the 4.7-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920p resolution and 469ppi image density.

Powered by a 2300mAh Lithium-Polymer battery, the HTC One has a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM.

The flagship smartphone currently runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Bluetooth, NFC and IR LED connectivity.
